Mind
“I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi
4theGoodLife blog is on a quest to find & share true and actual ways we all can experience a sharper, clearer mind as we strive to live the good life. I am investigating and reporting what makes up a good life and how you can start living it today! This is my mission and I hope you will join me!
The Good Life Lab Experiments grow from that mission. Below are a list of things you can do today, right now, in each of the 7 core areas of your life, to you bring more:

This page will hold short Good Life Lab Experiments, related to the core area ‘MIND’, that you can incorporate into your life. Try them out. Some will work for you and others will not. This is about lifestyle design. Creating a life YOU fall in love with… on purpose, by being intentional with your time, effort and experiences.
Good Life Lab Experiment: Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Sometimes we get stuck in out ways, even without thinking, without questioning and that’s how we lose the beauty of life… beauty in its vast array of experiences we come in contact with everyday. This is the shortest distance to boredom- & boredom is the death of living. So, let’s do something wild and crazy but temporary! 🙂 How about painting your nails a different color from what you are used to having? That sounds easy enough!
Try something Shocking, Bold or Eclectic! Or you can shoot for the stars? It’s temporary but through trying different experiences, you may learn something about yourself.
I can tell you for sure, you will get lots of compliments and real feedback. You may feel a little weird, at first… but as you embrace it, start mindfully enjoying its vibe. Are you coming off as more Sassy? Flirty? Friendly? Confident? Tried something too out there… next time do something a little less brash and more comfortable just not too comfortable.
Fellas, I haven’t left you out! You can also groom yourself differently! Try a mani pedi (clear polish, of course for you straight and narrow types). Yes, its time for a little TLC. You will not be less manly, if anything… you’ll probably like it! Tell me your hands (and feet) don’t look and feel better afterwards. If that’s going too far, then why not get a facial at a barber salon and while you’re there… get a new facial hairdo, part your hair differently, let it grow longer, how about some highlights?
Go the opposite of what you always wear. The best thing is, it’s only hair so it’ll grow back and you can get right back into your groove or you may find switching up your look makes for a more exciting look and mindset.
Try it. I want to hear all about your Good Life Lab Experiments, share them with me. I’m excited to see what you come up with!
Good Life Lab Experiment: Ready, Start, Write!
A great way to live more mindfully is by learning to express your unexpressed emotions and feelings. This is the key to getting in touch with the core of who you are!
This exercise is all about that. Let’s write a poem. Not a poet, then let’s write a song or rap. Not a song writer? Okay but…. Everyone is a writer, you don’t need to make a living out of it, just write from the heart. This is a personal practice and not something that needs to be shared if you don’t desire. When we exercise new parts of our brain and mind, we make new neuro pathways in our brain, which keep sour brain healthy and alive and wards off brain diseases like parkinsons and alzheimers.
So in addition to writing poetry and songs, try crossword puzzles, sudoku, hangman, matching games and vocabulary tests to keep that brain sharp. A great way to do that online is with lumosity. I play lumosity and I love it and I know you will too but for now…. I want you to write a poem or song right now!
Don’t worry about the rules from school; iambic pentameter, haiku syllables, rhyming… NO RULES! This is about mindfulness and expression.
Have fun, be silly, even try limericks or jokes if those are your thing. I just want your creative juices flowing… if you like it and are brave enough, share your masterpiece with the world.
I know I’d love to read it. If better than expected, set to music or recite spoken word style and really pizzazz it up before you share it.
